Making of himmelis (geometric ornaments) is an ancient tradition in Baltic Sea region. Himmelis were believed to bring luck. especially cereal and fertility luck, and therefore they were made for Christmas, Easter, weddings and other celebrations.<\/p>\n
Family himmeli measures \u2013 height 70 cm, width 65 cm.<\/p>\n
This box consists about 600 reed straws from 4 different length \u2013 from 3 cm to 27 cm. Himmeli is easy to make \u2013 it consists of 43 octahedrons and can be made also by a group of people. Just make three different size octahedrons and tie them together.<\/p>\n

\n– instruction manual (in English, Finnish and Estonian)<\/p>\n
The straws in this package are from common reed (Phragmites australis), which has grown on the western coast of Estonia and were collected for thatched roof builders. Later straws are sorted, cut and cleaned in our small family enterprise.<\/p>\n
